Global Pharmaceutical Corporation

The art and science of building peace of mind.

Building in the highly competitive science and technology marketplace requires partners with equally specialized expertise. Balancing safety, client reputation, demanding specifications, and constant iteration is both an art and a science that begins with the low tech skills of putting people first, and listening.

GOALS

When a Fortune 100 pharmaceutical company acquired a firm north of Chicago, they needed to renovate to transform the facilities to meet their rigorous standards. For safety, that meant building a laboratory that could handle flammable, explosive materials, biohazards, and other dangerous substances. For the firm’s brand and reputation, that also meant an exacting style and size of office spaces, common spaces, meeting rooms, break rooms, laboratories, and other facilities including a gym and cafe.

Meeting the needs and exceeding the expectations of employees and customers was key, as was speed. The company needed a partner to support them by moving as fast as safely possible to complete the project.

SOLUTIONS

Plan, plan, and plan again. Plans included supporting ongoing operations during the construction process. They also included planning for inevitable changes throughout construction.

Riley’s constant communication plan centered around a regular morning huddle with Riley, the customer, and subcontractors to align on what’s ahead, proactively answer questions, and efficiently solve potential issues.

With a commitment to derisk at all times, we introduced a Safety Standdown Lunch where we invited in an expert, our client, their safety director, and our crew. We discussed major safety topics in a relaxed environment that brought peace of mind to the client and the crew.

RESULTS

Building for science and technology is always a race to market and a race to finish. Riley delivered an on-brand, state-of-the art Fortune 100 medical facility with minimal disruption to operations while maintaining a safe work environment throughout. The project signaled the beginning of an ongoing partnership.
